Braggart! Crepe Myrtles in Searcy AR are bragging to the extreme.

Walking down the road for an early morning exercise session can be boring but I couldn't help being amazed at the bragging ability of some of the trees and flowers.

Take those Crepe Myrtles.  It appears that they are just bragging and bragging.  Everything around them, including people, are gasping and complaining about the 110+ temperatures that we've been having in Searcy Arkansas.

So what do they do?  They just bloom their hearts out......bragging about their love of hot weather and their ability to survive.

LOOK AT THIS TREE!  As I walk toward it, jt just gloats!

LOOK AT THIS ROW OF TREES with dead grass surrounding.

Row of crepes

And there are some flowers that we call perriwinkles who do some tall bragging of their own!  They are right beside the crepes in this flower bed. Only one shows but they are there.  They also love it hot.

I decided to accept their rude bragging behavior and just enjoy them!

Crepe Myrtles are wonderful! I have some dwarf hybrids that are bush size and they just blossom all summer. I think they are wanting to be trees though. At least the white ones. The reds are still hugging the ground like a dish pan. My daughter in California has some but they really struggle to bloom in the mild climate. We are fortunate to have such great Crepe Myrtles that are so resistant to almost everything.

I like to take the suckers from around the trunks of mature trees and plant them somewhere else. They do so well. Read about Crepe Myrtles here.

Don, they are resistant!  You can't kill a Crepe Myrtle.  Speaking from experience, you can chop it down to the ground because it blocks your view from the windows and it will spring back up and block your view again.  I have three that I'd like to get rid of but they just won't be defeated.

Yeah! Even if you dig them out by the roots, new plants will spring up from the remaining roots. I moved my dwarf hybrids from one location to another years ago and now I have new Crepes in the old place as well.

Don, we agree.  They are tough.  I sorta wish we'd never planted them.
