Choke On It Or Gum It...Why Bite Off More Than You Can Chew??

This morning I read a post by Conrad Allen titled “success is biting off more than you can chew…and then chewing it” and I thought I’d share my thoughts on this topic.  Most who bite off more than they can chew will “choke on it.”  I don’t think it’s reasonable to think that anyone is capable of biting off more than they can chew and doing it successfully.

Reaching a maximum level is realistic, and we each have that level.  We each know when we have reached that peak; the point where we feel we cannot accomplish another new task and do it properly.

It’s at that point when we need to stop and make major changes to the way we do business.  We need to work smarter rather than harder.  Analyzing our day to day routine; improving our methods of marketing; and delegating basic duties to others to prevent us from wasting time on trivial matters.

When one thinks about every task that we perform during the day, the only task that the agent must have full control over is the task of listing property.  Everything else can be done by a licensed or unlicensed assistant.

No one ever needs to bite off more than he/she can chew, if that person learns to work smarter.  Working smarter is not working harder.  It’s eliminating from your day tasks that others can do.  Learn to delegate, and you’ll make more money with much less effort.

Good Morning Barbara, very well said, I have to agree that most people who try to bite off more than they can chew soon get overwelmed which leads to failure. Slow and steady wins the race.  Have a great Tuesday

Scott.....it always leads to failure..... not a question about it...

Ginny..... you will....it takes time to reach that point..... Lorraine just lists and I do the marketing.... someone else does the agreements.... she will eventually be a listing machine....

Good morning, Barbara -- it's the most organized and efficient people who are the most successful --- a place and a person for every task.  This business can be overwhelming without the proper systems in place.

So true - know your limitations and when to say "when".   It's a lot easier to say "yes" than "no", but sometimes you just have to!

Delegate carefully though. That 7 buck an hour assistant may cause more problems than they solve.
