What a week celebrating our nation's birthday in Lake Oconee! There were plenty of Things to Do here besides lake activities and eating hamburgers.
Golf Cart Parade
Harbor Club staged a wonderful Golf Cart Paradeon the morning of July 4th. The parade included walkers, strollers, and American flag-decorated golf carts. Many residents participated or watched the Patriotic event which ended at the pool for the pledge of allegiance, and singing of patriotic songs. The Mahan family won the prize for the best golf cart.
Many families increased in size by entertaining grandchildren for the holiday.
After the parade, many enjoyed the DJ, cookout, and swimming at the pool.
Even the dogs got in the act by sporting the red-white-and-blue.
Fireworks
After a day of parading, golfing, or enjoying lake sports, many families turned out for the traditional fireworks held each year at Reynolds' Great Waters. The scene there beside the lake included live music, inflatable play equipment, food, and families in chairs or on blankets. There was a charming view of many boats, with their lights on, anchored on the lake, waiting for the show to begin. The fireworks display did not disappoint the crowd! It was a beautiful way to end this year's Celebration of America's Birthday!
A1A Concert (Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band)
On Friday July 6 the local arts organization, Oconee Performing Arts Society, presented the A1A Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band in concert. The concert was part of the Summer Series offered by the local group. We attended with a group of 18 friends. The weather cooperated to make it a lovely evening for an outdoor concert. The Parrotheads were out, and beach balls were soaring above (and on) our heads.
Now is the time to buy a home in the Lake Oconee area, so you can be part of the July 4th Celebration next year! The prices are low, and so are the loan rates.
