Realtors False Advertising in Boise

False Advertising in Boise.  And I am sure this goes on all over and I JUST DON'T understand how either the Real Estate commissions or the NAR and local Real Estate associations allow it.

For the last few weeks there is a Realtor in a major branded company running ads on the radio.  It is a very cocky ad saying that HE sells Thousands, yes Thousands of homes a year and MOST OTHER REALTORS SELL 2 OR 3 AND PICK UP A BUYER ALONG THE WAY!

According to the MLS he has sold THREE!  Not three this year, three EVER!  Not only is he obviously lying about his sales but he is disparaging other Realtors.  Both are aganst our code of ethics.  I would think that it is illegal false advertising.  Why does his Broker let him get away with it let alone NAR and the Idaho State Real Estate commission.

I have noted several similar things.  Radio ads, and paid for radio shows on Saturday where they sound like hot shots and just plain lie!

My advise to all consumers is they ask for proof of such outlandish claims.  We all know it is very easy to go to the MLS and see what people have sold.  Consumers should ask Realtors to show them what they have sold and how many they have listed and how many exired and canceled listings they have.

Do you think we should be reporting these people?  I hate to be a snitch, but this is ridiculous and dishonest.  It is a blight to all honest agents.

Talking about other Realtors is wrong, but is he wording it that "HE is selling thousands" or is he saying his company sells thousands? Wording is a funny thing in advertising, just listen to politicians.

No, these people should be reported. They are lying about their history as well as that of other Realtors. It is up to the clients to do their research before going with just someone's words though.

No he is not saying his company.  He is saying that HE does.  Even if he is including his team it doesn't even come close.  It burns me up even more that he says that most realtors sell 2 or 3 and pick up a buyer along the way.  There are a lot of part time Realtors and they do not sell hundreds of homes a year.  But this statement is misleading and is clearly to position him as something WAY above the ordinary.   He even said in his last Radio interview that a lot of Realtors who were here in the boom of the mid 90s are out of business now. HE WAS NOT EVEN HERE then!
