Most east coast locations are rich in early American history. As longtime Prince William County residents my husband and I have spent the last several years visiting, studying, photographing and making videos of the county's many that had an important role in our country's development.
We will continue the project, but are adding a fourth category - 18th and 19th century cemeteries that dot our landscape.. Many of these cemeteries are on large tracts of land that have been developed for residential, retail and commercial use.
Maddox- Scott is located in the center of the Hope Hill Crossing residential subdivision on Spriggs Road in Woodbridge. There are 33 graves. Many of the markers are being replaced or are broken and laying on the ground.
Of those that can be read
- Jesse Scott's grave is the oldest - he was interred on 7/29/1826 at 57 years of age.
- Ann Maddox's grave is the newest - she was buried on 2/17/1837 at 80 years of age
