Art After Hours at Sunflower Studio & Gallery Featuring Artist Billy Farmer

Billy Farmer, a North Carolina native, began to work as an artist after retiring from a successful career as a band director and music teacher. Billy works principally in watercolor but also enjoys acrylic, pastels and charcoals. Whatever his medium, his pieces are characterized by thoughtful, sensitive handling and mastery of color and design. The focus of his paintings is often landscapes. Billy graduated from Barton College and subsequently studied at North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Berkley College of Music. Billy's show will be focused on local landmarks, landscapes and still life work. You will not want to miss his 2012 show at the Sunflower!

Come out and enjoy an evening of poetry and music in downtown Wake Forest! The Neck of the Woods Performance Series is proud to announce its next show on July 14, 2012. The show is from 7:00pm to about 10:00pm upstairs at the Wake Forest Coffee Co. Neck of the Woods is a performance event that features the work of local artists. Shows include a variety of performers such as actors, dancers, musicians, singers, writers, comedians, etc. This month we are happy to feature writer J. C. Kuehn Miller, classical guitarist Paul Taylor, poet/singer-songwriter Derek Van Sickle and some 12-string blues by Mark Luxenberg. Please come a little early so that you will have time to grab a delicious beverage and settle in to enjoy the show. This is a free event, however a $5 donation for the artists is suggested. Fill A Truck at Wal Mart

The shelter is filled with cats and kittens and we need to restock the shelves with food, supplies and basic needs for the shelter.
