It will be a super busy weekend in Wake Forest NC with so many events surrounding the monthly Art After Things to Do in Wake Forest NCHours!  Check out all of the different galleries that will be open, receptions and exhibits below!  You can also find a great evening of entertainment at the Wake Forest Coffee Company on Saturday, the weekend Wake Forest Farmer’s Market and be sure to stop by WalMart on Sunday to help out SafeHaven for Cats!

 

Art After Hours

Friday, July 13; 5 - 9 pm

Downtown Wake Forest

On the second Friday night of each month the streets of downtown Wake Forest come alive with food, merchants and music! Everyone is invited to come and experience the dining, art and retail merchants of downtown Wake Forest. Downtown businesses stay open until 9 p.m. You never know what treasure you may find!

 

Art After Hours at Sunflower Studio & Gallery Featuring Artist Billy Farmer

Friday, July 13; 5 – 9 pm (Artists Reception)

Sunflower Studio & Gallery, 214 E. Jones Ave.

Billy Farmer, a North Carolina native, began to work as an artist after retiring from a successful career as a band director and music teacher. Billy works principally in watercolor but also enjoys acrylic, pastels and charcoals. Whatever his medium, his pieces are characterized by thoughtful, sensitive handling and mastery of color and design. The focus of his paintings is often landscapes. Billy graduated from Barton College and subsequently studied at North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Berkley College of Music. Billy's show will be focused on local landmarks, landscapes and still life work. You will not want to miss his 2012 show at the Sunflower!

 

Art After Hours Featuring Artist Omar Cummings

Friday, July 13; 5:30 – 9 pm

We have an exciting artist reception planned with our traditional exhibit and refreshments in The Event Gallery from 5:30 – 9 pm. This month we will also enjoy music on the street by The Music Academy South's Jam Band from 6 – 8 pm and additional artists and live music by Soulify from 6:30 - 10:30 pm upstairs in The Event Gallery. Neck of the Woods Performance Series

Come out and enjoy an evening of poetry and music in downtown Wake Forest! The Neck of the Woods Performance Series is proud to announce its next show on July 14, 2012. The show is from 7:00pm to about 10:00pm upstairs at the Wake Forest Coffee Co. Neck of the Woods is a performance event that features the work of local artists. Shows include a variety of performers such as  actors, dancers, musicians, singers, writers, comedians, etc. This month we are happy to feature writer J. C. Kuehn Miller, classical guitarist Paul Taylor, poet/singer-songwriter Derek Van Sickle and some 12-string blues by Mark Luxenberg. Please come a little early so that you will have time to grab a delicious beverage and settle in to enjoy the show. This is a free event, however a $5 donation for the artists is suggested. Wake Forest Farmers’ Market

Saturday, July 14; 8 am – Noon

OneCare Inc. parking lot, 150 N. White St.

Wake Forest Farmer's Market will be open from 8 am to 12 noon on Saturday, June 14.   Music will be provided by Kyle Scobey. Toxic Free NC will be the market's educational guest. Fish and Seafood is a new feature of the market. Come shop for the freshest veggies, fruit, baked goods.

 

Fill A Truck at Wal Mart

Sunday, July 15; 11 am – 4 pm

Wal-Mart Supercenter, 2114 S. Main St.

The shelter is filled with cats and kittens and we need to restock the shelves with food, supplies and basic needs for the shelter.  Fill A Truck allows the community to help the shelter get the donations we desperately need.  Wish lists are passed out at the location and whatever you can give is greatly appreciated.
