You and Your Money - Road Trips And Gasoline

As you prepare for your road trip this summer it just might be worth your while to consider where you will stop for fuel.

Over the years we have noticed that particular areas or gas stations on our usual road trips have consistently been lower than local stations by at least 5 cents a litre so we often wait to fill the tank until we are headed that way. This led us to look for a means to check on gas prices before leaving or while on the road for all our road trips that would consume a fair bit of fuel.

I was drawn to this web site by several posts here on active|rain. The site has an amazing amount of information on gas prices across North America. It also provides other useful information and surveys.

I love that GasBuddy app, I use it whenever I go on trips to visit family with Bud, it truly is a lifesaver to be told what stations are ahead and how much they cost.

Plug in your electric car and make sure there are outlets everywhere you are going.

With gas prices markedly down, people are paying less attention.

$3 is now a bargain.

Bud and Beth - with gas prices all over the map it's great to have an app to take it on the road with you especially if your travels take you into an area you don't frequent all the time.

Fred - costco or the new Canadian Tire card that gives you a 10 cent per litre roll back right at the pumps for the first 30 days.

Barbara-Jo - $3.00 a gallon would be considered a real bargain around here I haven't done the math but I believe we are around $4.75 a US gallon for gas here at $1.25 a litre

a "back" road and further from the interstate is also good.
