Video in your blog! The next big wave?

By

Lately I am always on the lookout for things that can help me increase my various blog's SEO. I recently stumbled across the idea of using video as a web enhancement. I think that it is a really great idea! It gives me the ability to add even more new content and it gives a really nice look and feel to the blog. I am setting up an example of what I'm referring to below.

Pointers? Tips?

They are welcome!

Let me know how it works. I see others use video, but I haven't yet. I am still a big dummy about all this blog stuff, but I'm workin' my way through. I think some of the people that blog a lot put their logo in each one for some reason. Good luck!

The video keeps stopping. I don't know whether it is me or my equipment.

Otherwise, great idea, but I can't even upload a photo.

Good luck! 8-)

Do you feel this information is of benefit to your customers?

If so, go for it, as that is the ONLY value to you.  Having this on your site is of no SEO value to YOU whatsoever.  In fact, you're giving about 12 quick and easy reasons to LEAVE your site, which is probably not your intention.

Lania - I will let you know how it turns out. Thank you for your interest, and if you need any help with anything regarding getting your blog set up feel free to shoot me an email directly and I will try to lend a hand.

Tara - Yeah I think it is your equipment or your connection. It seems to run fine on my screen. Thank you for the luck!

Fred - This feed in particular is full of negative news yes, my thinking with regard to SEO is that if I rotate the video's and create my own playlists, there will constantly be new content on my blog in addition to my post's. The one that I currently have on my blog is at www.lakecitymtg.netand I believe is relavent to my blog content. Thanks for the info! ... Oh, and how did you set up your signature?

Christopher:  The problem is this type of thing isn't content on YOUR site, it's content from OTHER sites. You can add it, change it every 5 minutes if you want.... it's not going to do a THING for your site or SEO efforts.

The search engines see this on your blog:

<object id="swfclipp10918" height="700" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="300"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.thenewsroom.com/mash/swf/cube.swf?a=p10918&m=320075&v=1" /><param name="base" value="." /><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><embed name="swfclipp10918" src="http://www.thenewsroom.com/mash/swf/cube.swf?a=p10918&m=320075&v=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" allowscriptaccess="always" height="700" wmode="transparent" base="." width="300"></embed></object>

There isn't ONE WORD of that which will help YOUR optimization efforts. It doesn't matter whether it's relevant real estate news, or videos about cereal....  it's absolutely ZERO information for optimization.  Search engines see nothing.

Now, if you created a feed like the news feed here, that would help in some regards, as those stories all link to pages on HIS website.  Content on HIS website. The feed itself doesn't help his SEO either, but because it links to pages ON HIS SITE, it does help in that regard - plus visitors stay on HIS site, not get diverted to external sites, possibly never to return again.

Fred - I see what you mean now, thank you for the descriptive response, this really helps. If I basically create my own television station linking back to ME that may help simply by rate of click throughs, but the content itself is not viewed as content. Thank you for the info, Now how do you do that with your signature:)?
