Fun Day
with Grandsons at Cook Forest State Park
Pennsylvania

Cook Forest State Park is just about 85 miles southeast of Erie as crow flies but it might take you two hours to get there through many small country villages and winding two lanes roads depending on traffic.
Jocob, five years old: "Are we there yet?" (I heard that question at least five times in first 30 minutes till we started to play game, 'Can you see . . .' a bird? a cow? a horse? a sign?

Finally up one more hill and into Cook Forest State Park. Note the huge boulders left by receding glaciers after last ice age.
I remember climbing on these rocks with my siblings when we were little. Later my sister & her college friends camped on rock ledge overlooking Clarion River and Tom's Run. (Not permitted even then.)
Around the camp fires nieces and nephews retold stories of their own childhood. I heard my daughter say, "Don't put any ideas in my boys' heads." Oh my, guess I don't really want to know.

Can't go to Cook Forest without climbing the tower

How fast a week of fun goes by . . . till next year
