The Northwood Community in Orange County California was first developed in the 1970’s by the Irvine Company and what makes this area unique compared to others in Irvine is that Northwood isn’t totally governed by a homeowners association although neighborhoods in the area like Park Place and Park Paseo do have their own homeowners associations and well maintained clubhouses plus community pools / spas that are big parts of communities in Irvine.
Northwood’s Origins
As one of Irvine’s oldest communities, Northwood was originally part of Irvine Ranch but the Irvine Family ended up giving away major chunks of their land to various employees or foremen over the years until the organized those parcels of land under one development which they named Northwood.
Northwood is well known for it’s eucalyptus trees that line the street in the area and also serve as a form of protection from the power of the Santa Ana Winds in the fall.
