HomeFinder.com Makeover – A Change For Patience.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with KGC Properties LLC, Tucson Property Management & Real Estate

Recently, I’ve lost some patience.  Most likely a due to a combination of opening a new business that is growing, ever changing processes in that business that I need to keep up with, and of course, life mixed in the middle.

For the Active Rain Agent Makeover Contest, HomeFinder.com Makeover, I believe the best changes start from within, and renewed patience improves business!

Here’s the plan:

Start small.  Look at past mistakes, hurdles, conflicts and analyze what I could have done differently – not someone else.

Reduce “urgency”.  Very few things really are urgent – things take time, success comes with time.  Do things with consistency – and the process will follow.

Practice.  Give that other agent time to call you back, allow clients to take more time to get things you need, if someone makes a mistake – just help fix it; and in the meantime,  let cars in at red lights,  take the stairs instead of elevator, sit in the car a few minutes before going right into the house after a long day!

Don’t get thrown by momentary delays.  Gotta sit on the phone for a while? Review docs while you are waiting, follow up on an email, revise your daily to do list, etc.  Whatever break or delay you have – there is always something that you can do to fill the time – even if it is just taking a break.

Accept that nothing is wasted.  Even that idle time in a grocery store waiting while the clerk price checks for the customer in front of you, use that time for practicing patience!

With business, success isn’t overnight.  Patience is the tool needed to keep you on your marketing, business, blogging, client retention, etc. plan.  Developing patience is the start.

Gabrella,

I know how you feel.  I opened my own real estate firm last year and I too, struggle.  When my business started to soar, my time was never my own.  I think that happens, once you reach a certain point, have to rethink the business plan.

Everything needed overhauling, Quick Books, equipment, my REO division, support staff.  I keep making changes to my support staff.  But, it isn't easy.  Perhaps we an share some ideas.

Patience is a virtue, seldom found in man.

But often found in women.

Good advice from you.

Patience is not for me although had you known me when I was a cop you would swear I'm not the same person.  I've learned to cope shall we say, there are times I still would like to read someone the riot act.
