The Boy is a Natural . . . And I Love it!

I thoroughly enjoy the game of golf, and on many an occasion my grandson Raphael has said that he wants to golf with Papa Ed. We have putted in my family room, and he even has his own putter.

We’ve been to play mini golf, and even though he takes a few liberties, at 3 ½ years old the rules can be bent a bit, He will eventually learn the rules and play the game right.

After visiting a park recently, Raphael spotted a mini golf course and asked to play. The course was a small course and was not ready for a pint sized golfer so they gave him a child’s driver to use. With this he then asked to drive balls like some of the people were doing.

He did his flubs, but was very receptive to being adjusted and given guidance. So we began: Raphael, hold the club like this; spread your legs, don’t bend the arms too much and keep your eye on the ball.

The boy was a Natural. He could only manage maybe 20 or 30 yards but the rest will come in time.

Love it.  He'll be out and about practicing and learning the love of the game.

Better than exercising his finger on a TVgame.

Ed-That is when to start when they are young. They are like little sponges at that age. Terrific pics and such a cutie. Better watch out or in a few years he might give you a run for your money. Smiling

Hi Barbara, thanks The boy likes wearing his crocs and he loves being outside and has gotten to like the idea of golf and baseball.

Ken, someone will appreciate it a few years down the road.

Lenn, I do not think he will get a chance to get addicted to the video games as his mother wants him to be active and grow up a boy.

Roger, he is a special little boy and the youngest of 6 grandchildren. He is every bit an outside personality.

Debbie, there would never be a bad thought if he were to clean my clock, I know who would have taught him.

Jeff, he does show some athletic abilities and love for sports, even to watching baseball games either on TV or at the AA games here in the state.

No Carol Ann, that was not staged. The boy does listen. On this afternoon, he insisted that I hit balls as well. I instructed him on foot placement, hand grip without the interlocking fingers, keep his eye on the ball and take a deep breath before addressing the ball. Then he would put the ball on the tee and if he didn't go through the sequence, I would stop him and ask him to remember the steps, and he would start again and not miss a beat.

Thanks, Kathryn, it was a special afternoon for sure

Irene, he will be a pleasure for at least a few more years

Sharon, he is a little sponge but has also been taught manners and to respect others

Thanks, Hannah, we are special buddies and his mother already moans when he mimics some of my antics.

Hi Al & Peggy, he was very attentive to what I explained to him and really enjoyed himself. I showed the photos to our Pro, and he was likewise impressed and as he teaches a lot of juniors was more impressed that the little guy would listen.

George, he was really trying to hit that ball and was happy to play
