The following is an early experiment in HDR photography to take advantage of the clouds and the color that you see at sunset. Since HDR and cloud cover, go together like ham and eggs, I decided to give it a try. The photo is taken at three exposures and then layerd through an algorithm. The boats were lined up in the water for the fireworks on the 4th of July. They were situated to take advantage of the shows that were happening on BOTH sides of the river. Irvington and Tarrytown on our side and Nyack on the western side.
Hi Ruthmarie, this photo is beautiful. The sky looks almost fire like. Best of success to you this year!
Good morning, Ruthmarie. Yes, this is a great photo and so nice anticipating the fireworks. I love the Hudson.
Hi Ruthmarie... Not sure what all the lingo means but I am sure that I just love the photo... Have a great day!
Hi Jorden, Thank you so much - I'm working on my photography and am trying new things.
Hi David, Its a great area to hike in...There are so many walks and trials that you can frequent.
Hi Debbie, Glad you liked it. The sky was great to take that shot and all the boats were angled the same way...it was interesting to see how they positioned themselves to take in everything.
Hi Richard and Beth - I may start to explain a bit more. HDR is High dynamic range. Where you take 3 photos of the same subject (you need a tripod especially when it is dark). The photos are at three exposures. Underexposed, over exposed and correct exposure. Then you use a program that layers them and lets you bring out the best of each exposure. The results can go from being very realistic to the surreal, depening on how you edit.
