Old Message...Clean Out Clutter!

By
Commercial Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Commercial
As a Realtor building my business, I was out meeting and talking to people a few days ago at yard sales in Rochester Hills. This one neighborhood on a golf course has had a beautiful home for sale for at least one year. Admittedly the market has been slow and recovering but these are lovely homes, priced well, near Rochester schools, and central to everything.

Items for sale were set up in the garage the way it's normally done. What I noticed most was not the stuff for sale but the clutter not for sale.

When listing a home for sale and open to the public, it is recommended that all unnecessary personal items should be put away out of view or stored in an off site location.

People find it difficult to look past the mess and envision the home itself. Why make it difficult for them?

If I was their agent, it would have been the first thing I suggested as well as staging advice. You may not get a higher price but it might sell faster.

It really depends on the situation or whether it is worthy of reducing the clutter. If they are in a short-sale the chances are pretty slim.
