“What is the secret to your SEO magic?” - Not Magic - Hard Work

Reblogger Tammy Emineth

SEO Magic? Not magic, just hard work and a lot of it. Richard writes a good post here but it's not just about content, I have to add. It's about content that someone would want, search for and then move beyond what they came for in the first place. Why does wiki, amazon and ebay work so well? Because you went there looking for one thing and ended up on another page of their site for something either related or off topic altogether. The point is; you are STILL on their site.

If your content stands alone, someone might find it to read it, but if there is nothing to keep them there, move through your pages and eventually contact you, there's no point.

Original content by Richard Weisser

The question that I am asked most often: “What is the secret to you SEO magic?”I have always enjoyed good SEO rankings, and I am always asked by both colleagues and competitors alike what the secret is to SEO success.

And today, for the first time I am going to reveal that secret in a public forum. The secret to my SEO magic is this:

There is NO secret!

I just create good, unique and relevant content. Lots of it, and I do it on a daily basis.

I employ neither shortcuts or workarounds, and I have never had anyone touch one of my websites other than me,

It takes a lot of time and plenty of hard work. But Google’s ideal of returning relevant, natural content is becoming more of a reality every day, and it only takes a quick scan of the results page to realize that more is better.

To sum it all up, the secret is to NOT try and game the system.

Rather, give web searchers the stuff that they are looking for the most:

CONTENT!

Tammie - excellent reblog and the best news for me is Richard's conclusion: "But Google’s ideal of returning relevant, natural content is becoming more of a reality every day....  I am number one for stagers in my area and it's not because I'm an SEO expert. I'm learning more every day, but blogging on my website and AR is what really helped me reach the top.

I don't always think more is better... having 200 mediocre blogs that don't link to each other is certainly poorer than having 10 really great optimized and inter-linked pages. Just my opinion and what I have seen lately. :)

Tammy: Agreed, excellent post by Richard. Google's updates this past year certainly point the way to their intention that good relevant organic content is what they want to deliver. Writing content that is what and where people are looking for is key. And, as you say, you need to keep them there.

Tammy #3. So I guess it's not just natural content as Richard suggests. It sounds like there's some kind of optimization and some kind of linking scheme that can help. Maybe Richard assumes that the natural way to write is a style that is optimized and structured for the search engines. To me that is different than just writing a lot of natural content.
