Fun with karaoke
Going to karaoke night at local establishments was a lot of fun.A really fun night out with friends or family. But even though everyone had a great time there were issues with the experience.
First there was the noisy crowd that made any discussion at the table very difficult. Then there was the single book listing the songs that everybody wanted to look through to find the songs they wanted to sing. Third, There were so many people who had put in song requests it was a couple of hours before the first one of our group was able to sing. The next issue was that nobody would be able to sing more than once with the number of requests.
The final issue was the bar tab. Wow! “nuff said there. So.....I will probably go and do karaoke again since it was a lot of fun, But ….. Meanwhile..... Is there another way?
The quick answer is yes.
There are many karaoke machines on the market and there are online services that can be used for a monthly or annual fee. Either is a good option if you plan to have fairly regular karaoke parties.
If you choose the machine route you will also need to get the cd+g discs with your favorite songs. If you choose the online route, unless it is just for you there may be a need for microphones and speakers with an amplifier. There are free trial accounts with limited options and limited song selection.
So of course I selected both.
A karaoke DJ with new Digital equipment sold me his old machine and collection of disks with about 2500 songs. I also bought a machine that had speakers and 2 microphones for use with the online services.
So for the cost of a couple of nights out we have been having karaoke parties in my son’s garage for the past two months loving it. This location is perfect since there are no neighbors to disturb no matter how loud we get or how many speakers we add. we are currently using 7 speakers and we get very loud. But we can turn it off or turn it down any time. All of us and our guests enjoy many singing opportunities at each party with having to wait for hours for their next turn.
We have a book listing the songs by artist and another list by song title for these songs on disks and the online services have built in search features. I have also recently added a web site with fun photos and song lists at www.oldieskaraoke.com
If you have any old karaoke disks that you no longer use or want send them to me and i will reimburse your postage. If you have a bunch that you would like to sell i will need to see which songs are on the disk etc.
Have your own fun with karaoke!
