A Small Step to Being Smarter….

1.     It will make you smarter.

2.     It will make you more purposeful.

3.     It will make you more creative.

Are you intrigued by these three statements?  Are you learning based? Or are you ignorance based?  There are two broad options here for us to consider.  Ignorance based  is described by this statement  “I know what I know and I’ll ignore anything else.”  Learning based will have ”the mindset of a lifelong learner.”

The simple answer to being a lifelong learner is “Carry a Notebook.”  It invites you to take notes, to capture your ideas and record your thoughts.

It has been proven in several studies that the physical act of writing increases learning and gives the brain stronger feedback then typing and helps with retention.

Notebooks allow you to organize your thoughts and you can revisit your notes anytime.  Ideas can be jotted down for later review and writing in a notebook is not restrictive in any way not even on airplanes.

Patsy, I've known many people to do this and it does work. Good post that can benefit all of us.

Patsy, Thank you very much for your post! I very recently started doing this -keeping a log and notes. In the past I had told myself that I could remember everything, (ha!) but writing it down does work- I am more purposeful for sure and things get done more efficiently,   It's interesting to note that writing is better for retention than typing. Hmm-m-m! Thank you again for a great post!

Great information and great suggestion!  I have a small notebook that I keep in my bag and I've pulled it out many times when I've had a thought and didn't want to forget it.  If I don't write it down, I'll lose it for sure!
