Outback Beans - a food review

In an attempt at levity, and to cure any perceived "home sickness" I was presented with a bag of Outback Beans the invention of Wiley Wallaby.

Australian Style Outback Beans

The picture on the bag says it all. The gift givers assumed the multo-colored candies resembled marsupial droppings. However, even on the most festive occasions, and us Aussies have a few, I have never known Wallabies (or Kangaroos) to be so flamboyant.

Perhaps they were referring to an ill-fated product of several decades ago called "Roo Poo".  It was even chocolate covered, but still not attractive enough to save it from extinction.

The promised Chewy Red Centers is an obvious reference to the Red Centre - the physical and metaphoric middle of Australia (here all should stand and tear up).

On investigation, Australian Style Outback Beans are manufactured in MN USA. Due to climatic differences Wiley Wallaby would only be able to advise there for a few months each year.

Cultural corrections aside, the candy covered, Australian style Liquorice is a great nibble. The contents of this substantial offering disappeared in short order.

It was great, mate. Well worth a go.

Larry, It sounds like you might be trying these again very soon since they were so on spot.

Debbie - you could be right. Licorice in any form goes down well. I am sonewhat partial to candies.

Always know what you're eating and where it came from.  These look pretty good but when I saw the word "droppings" in your early writing, I was doubtful that I would want to try any.  Thanks for the post.

Doug - it was a brave man who first ate an oyster. I probably eat more candies than I should.

Wayne - not intending to mislead Bush humor sometimes does not translate.. They were good anyway.
