And I thought rents were crazy in Westchester....This is over-the-top.  But i can understand it in a luxury building in NYC...Nevertheless - too rich for my blood.

Not sure if the actual residents of that building would want to be associated with this story!  You never know what some believe.

Hi Ruthmarie, I don't know the rents in the fictitious TV apartment but the Ansonia not only still has some rent stabilized apartments, the market rate rents there are reasonable for Manhattan. $3100/month for a 1 bedroom in a doorman building is below the average rent for a 1 bedroom in a doorman building on the Upper West Side. (The average 1 BR rent on UWS is $2642 but in a elevator building it's $3,086 and in a doorman building the average 1 BR rent is $3,689.

Hi Gabe, Not sure either, although a friend who lives in The Ansonia gave me a thumbs up - liked this post on facebook,-)

Mitchell, I saw a promotional piece about this series a few days ago. I know lots of movies and TV shows are filmed in NYC. If a building has prominence in a show and becomes recognizable, does its celebrity affect real estate prices, either up or down?

Hi Virginia, Thanks it does look interesting.

Hi Wayne, Good question.  It may. I don't have any data but I often get asked by first-time buyers to find them an apartment like the one on "friends"  (friends was filmed on a sound stage in Hollywood) Donald Trump's celebrity has always got him high prices in his buildings.W

When a building is used for filming the production company pays the building very well. Often enough to pay for major capital improvements and repairs.

$3100/month for a 1 bedroom in a doorman building is below the average rent for a 1 bedroom in a doorman building on the Upper West Side-I hate to say it but its close to some of the New Building in Seattle Price-

I think it going to be a fun show-

The Ansonia is a very cool looking building, it reminds me of the Willard Hotel here in Washington, DC with it's mansard rood lines.
