The Duke Don't Dance- North Carolina's HOT NC Reads
Just discovered: The Duke Don't Dance (TDDD) a novel by Richard Sharp- a good-good read for the summer. Don't get me wrong- this is not some paperback to take to the shore, simply an entertaining bit of fluff
.... au contraire- it is, according to one reviewer, a " smart story ... narrated slowly and carefully... not written in scenes, [and without] much dialogue... the characters are human and wonderfully flawed. "
If you follow professional book reviews, as I do, you will be impressed with the reviews from KIRKUS and ForeWord as per:
"Sharps flair for details is exquisite and delightful..." The Duke Don't Dance is beautifully written. The story is heady, and the text intense...The tale itself is forthright, yet simultaneously equivocal...one man's fictionalized story of a generation..." ~ ForeWord Review, 2012
"A novel too good to be ignored." ~ KIRKUS Reviews, 2012
The above reviews sure caught my attention. So I added this book to my collection...and, with high hopes,
I requested and was granted an interview with author, Richard Sharp who, by the way, lives right here in North Carolina.
Fascinating guy. (Harvard and Princeton education and a way with words you will remember.)
The interview revealed Sharp's advice to the Not-So-Retiring among us..."BE UNREPENTANT"
Check out my interview. And if you want a genuinely good read (possibly a bestseller) grab The Duke Don't Dance...ASAP.
