The Magic Elixir Needed When Buying a Home
and Seeking a Mortgage in Chicagoland
One of my wife's favorite movies is the 1938 version of,
If you've read Mark Twain's book or watched this movie, you'll remember that Tom Sawyer's Aunt Polly gives him teaspoons of what she refers to as "painkiller" when she thinks he's ill. Seems a dose or two of the potent elixir will cure him of pretty much anything that ails him, even bad behavior.
Watching this movie again the other day got me thinking. Wouldn't it be great if it were that easy to cure all our ills and problems?
Just one heapin' dose of Aunt Polly's magic elixir and ... Walah! All's cured! Problems solved! I don't know about you, but I'm thinking it'd be pretty handy to keep a huge bottle of this stuff at my desk at work!
But ... until that magic cure-all is actually available and on store shelves, I as my client's Mortgage Lender, must find and rely on other solutions to help them avoid "headaches, pitfalls, and ills" when buying a home and entering the mortgage process. A concrete, old-fashioned solution that they can participate in and I help put in place.
And what is that solution?
I believe it's a well thought-out, planned, and solidly-constructed mortgage application. A mortgage application that can be thoroughly examined by an Underwriter and approved cleanly and quickly.
In order to secure a successful underwriting conclusion, mortgage lenders must help their clients understand the mortgage process itself. They must first help their clients optimize their Credit Scores. Then they must assist them in protecting them. Next, all necessary financial and employment documentation must be gathered and in place. And then appraisal issues and concerns regarding the Subject Property must be proactively addressed.
For me, there's absolutely no doubt. IF there's a magic elixir to be found anywhere within real estate transactions or mortgage financing ... an elixir that prevents problems from occurring and cures ills should they still appear ... that elixir's first, middle, and last name is:
Take the important steps necessary to prepare thoroughly for home buying and mortgage financing ... and the stress level that naturally accompanies them drops off the radar. It becomes manageable.
So it's my recommendation that, until it's possible to stock-up on Aunt Polly's painkilling elixir ... you find and then work with an experienced Chicagoland Mortgage Lender that will assist you in becoming fully-educated and fully-prepared for your mortgage application and mortgage processing ... as soon as you first start thinking of buying a home.
Do that, and Aunt Polly's elixir won't even be necessary ...
I hope you enjoy this clip from the movie ...
