I Have a Question...

Around my home town I noticed that a local property management company has started posting signs on the front of the buildings they manage with their company name and phone number.  They manage a lot of student rentals, and there has been some of controversy lately over student parties, so I think they are doing this to placate the neighborhood association.  It seems like a good idea because disgruntled neighbors might complain to the manager rather than the police.  But I was wondering -- is posting your phone number on the outside of a rental property a common practice for property managers? Are there any reasons NOT to do it? -- Kim

I have never seen it done once the property is occupied. It seems, at first glance at least, wise.

This is required in many areas including in CA so that neighbors and police can know who to call in the case of an emergency...

In my area once the property is rented/leased the sign is removed. Some municipalities don't allow any kind of signage whether it's for sale or lease.
