Not all folks in Colorado Springs have air conditioning

We don't have an air conditioner in our house. We don't even have a fairly popular swamp cooler. Our visitors are then suprised to hear this.

To be quite honest, most of the year we are able to regulate the temperature in our house with windows and fans and the temperatures cool down quite nicely in the evening and at night. In the past few years there were only very brief periods in the summer when it got really hot for us in the house. Then a move into the basement was called for. However, it usually didn't last long. This year though, we've had excessively hot weather over an extended period of time in our city - at least that's what I call anything above 95F...propably a little different than the south.

We have a lovely 'dry' heat - however, it's high up and intense, and dry or not: It's HOT!

This year I got desparate and tried a tip from one of my friends. I guess this is considered a "Redneck AC"? YES, this is my house, and YES I didnt' care...whatever it takes to stay cool. :-)

I like the ice water cooling system in this matter.

I heard you put it behind the fan I think. I have a friend that just moved there from Pensacola. I am not sure where though he lives at the foot of Pikes Peak and took a job with a large storage company. Anyway he says the same thing. Wow it would be cool to control the heat and cold with just windows and fans. I would save a small fortune.

Wish that would work this summer in Mo with temps over 100 plus and huge electric bills.
