Spray on Batteries? It is a possibility.

The future of batteries might be changing as we know it. The Spray On Battery could change the future. Can you imagine if the paint on your car or even your house becomes a battery?

For homes I see that renewables would now be able to charge the paint on the house and eliminate the huge and expensive banks of batteries that are needed now to store solar energy at night or wind energy on cloudy windless days. This coupled with reduce consumption and energy retrofits could make the battery even more effective. I hope to see this someday for myself here in Reno.

Even in everyday devices the battery takes up space. The fact that the paint could be the battery would reduce space in so many devices and open up the invention of new devices.

There currently exists solar panels that convert sun light into electricity that may power your car. they are placed on the roof. I have read about the paint before. One would still need a storage device for the energy for night time and rainy days.

Scientists at USC have developed a potential pathway to cheap, stable solar cells made from nanocrystals so small they can exist as a liquid ink and be painted or printed onto clear surfaces.

The solar nanocrystals are about four nanometers in size — meaning you could fit more than 250,000,000,000 on the head of a pin — and float them in a liquid solution.

Power is generated by semiconducting crystals which are between two and 10 nanometres in diameter - and are mixed into dye that looks like normal paint

I wonder what the electric companies think of this since it will cut in to their bottom line. As more and more people start to use this, will electric companies eventually start closing their doors?

The Energy Company here says that energy conservation is why they need to raise rates. So who knows what they will blame next.

Great innovative thinking you have going on there...I'd like to see it happen, too.
