Welcome to New York, Ichiro

What a game it turned out to be!  Just hours before the Bronx Bombers took the field at Safeco last night, it was announced that Seattle's prized player, Ichiro Suzuki was traded to the Yankees.  Well if you don't know by now, I am a SUPERFAN of the NY Yankees and already had my tickets in hand.

It was odd seeing Ichiro play right field for the Yanks as he rocked #31.  His usual #51 has not been worn by a Yankee since the great Bernie Williams.

Yanks of course ended up winning and it felt oh so good to be in a stadium full of Yankee fans.  Haters in Seattle always have something to say about the Yankees and their bankroll and blah blah blah so rooting for the team in a crowd with other fans is a happy place.

Seattle cheered for Ichiro as he batted 8th in the line-up and then they quickly got quiet when he hit a single.

Welcome to the Yankees, Ichiro.  We're going for #28 this year so I hope you end up with a ring!

I wish I could share some witty response but baseball is not my sport of choice (I lean toward football) but I am happy for you and the rest of the Yankee fans.

I'm a Yankees fan too!  Haven't seen them play live in years!  The last time was back in the 1980s.  My muse at the moment had tickets for the Yankee's Dugout at Oakland A's.  I was so unsophisticated about baseball back then, that I had visions of actually sitting down in the dugout with the players.  I thought it was gonna be great to sit on the bench with Billy Martin:-)  Imagine how disappointed I was to find that I was in the bleachers with everyone else.  Great seats, but not as great as I had imagined:-)

Neat photos, Kerrie!  Especially like the one in your Yankees jersey with the poster of Ichiro!

Kerrie, This one surprised me, I thought that the Yankees would make a move for a pitcher, Ichiro should really help the Yankee offense.
