Americana #4 - The Model T Ford

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Executives

The first Ford Model T rolled out of the Detroit plant in 1908. As Henry Ford said, "You have your choice of colors as long as it is black" The first models cost the consumer about $850.

Ford's success was due to the fact they were built on an assembly line. He eventually opened a new plant in Highland Park. By the time the 15th million Model T was produced in 1927 one rolled off the line every three minutes.

The Model T pictured below is of World War One vintage and is displayed in the National Museum Of The Marine Corps in Triangle, VA

My husband's grandfather, Max, was a nurseryman and florist. He is on the left side of the picture with his Model T sedan, delivery van and pickup truck.

Karen: A Model-T rolling off the line every 3 minutes is pretty amazing considering they did not have all the modern conveniences we have today.

Karen, I enjoyed the pictures and the info on Henry Ford.  Loved the picture of Art's grandfather.  I have some pictures of my maternal grandfather with several model T/A trucks for his slaughterhouse operation in Cleveland.  I am so glad to see this auto giant making a comeback!

Thanks for the history lesson.  This is also a good reminder that we need to get back to the Marine Corps Museum.

Have an outstanding August as home buyers take advantage of the record low mortgage interest rates.

I am ashamed to say that I had the Marine Corp as a client for 7 years back in the 1980's and I have yet to go to their museum Karen. Thanks for the pictorial reminder...I believe that visit will happen this week.
