How Do I Dispose of..... WHAT????

PHA has been busy over the past several months helping numerous clients declutter before a move.  Most clients have moved in-town, but two have moved to France!

American FlagIt's not often that I get asked about the disposal of American flags... but, I knew from personal experience that the American Legion will usually accept the flag and every so often will have a ceremonial burning. And, in the past, this is what I've told my clients to do with their old or damaged flags.

However, it has just come to my attention, that not all American Legion Posts are accepting flags for this ceremony.  So what to do?

An internet search brought me to this site:  flagkeepers.org  A very informative site and wonderful organization.... Not all flags will incur a "flag disposal fee".  So, for the cost of mailing your flag to them, the flag gets disposed of in a dignified manner. For those situations that require a fee, the fee is nominal based on the overall dimensions of the flag.

In addition to US American flags, state, city and municipal flags, they will also accept flags from friendly foreign governments.

Who knew that when I decided to become a professional moving organizer I would be called upon to dispose of many, many unusual items?  Some of which require historical, artistic or governmental knowledge! Whew... glad I knew about this one....

A Happy Move is an Organized Move!

Peggy-  I had never thought of that. I guess even the flag has to be laid to rest at some or another..Nice of you to take the time to follow it all through..

Hi Gay... yes, there are very specific ways to dispose of the American Flag... and I'm sure other countries have their requirements as well.  It's all so interesting.
