As first time home buyers we weren't sure where to start when applying for a home loan, we just wanted to be pre-approved and fast. We thought going online was the best option and we received a quick response from a major online loan company, so we went with them. At first, the process was very seamless and progressed nicely, we found a home we wanted and we were pre-approved; we couldn't have been happier. As we learned, buying home is stressful, as lenders go through your financial history with a fine tooth comb and question items that seem very arbitrary, but this is just the way it goes, so we dug up all the information our online mortgage company couldn't seem to find on its own. It wasn't until my husband and I wanted to just say forget about it because we were tired of having to do all the work for our lender when it seemed like a part of the process they should have been handling for us. We were days away from losing our home because of the whirlwind of lies, "missing" numbers/paperwork, and hoops the online lender had us going through days before we were supposed to close!
Luckily, we had the best realtor around, Nicole Joyce, who said what we were dealing with wasn't right and it was decision time; try to stay with the online mortgage company and pray we don't lose the house or switch to someone she recommended, Dave Krichmar. I was worried; do I give up on the online mortgage company and possibly run into the exact same issues again?! Well, my worries were quickly put to rest in the first phone call to Dave. He was confident, and answered all of my persistent, detailed questions, and made me feel confident he could get us in this house. The process was stress-free and I believed Dave, which was not the case with the online mortgage company. He answered all my questions and emails in a timely manner, called me when he had a question, checked in on us, and just gave us the customer service we deserved. Dave turned around what seemed like a hopeless situation and now we have the home we love and couldn't be happier. Dave will always be our mortgage guy and we will always recommend him to any of our friends looking for a home.
