   Pick your own blueberries. Dzen farm in South Windsor, CT.

   If you don't know where you can go to pick your own perfect blueberries, Dzen farm in South Windsor if the best place to go to. We do it every year during the summer time.

   I can’t believe it is already July 25. I have been driving around with my buyers (which is a great thing), but completely forgetting that my children are growing up and pretty soon my oldest on, Nikita (he is 14 years old now) will be going to college, and my youngest one, Andrei (will be eight in five days) will not give me a kiss and hug before Pick your own blueberries. Dzen farm in South Windsorgoing to school.

   That is why I decided that there will be no more excuses. Today I took them to pick your own blueberries at our nearest, and best local, farm:  Dzen’s Farm. You can go and pick your own apples, strawberries, peaches (in August)... and the best part of it is that we are all going to bake a blueberry pie together J Although, I have to tell you, nobody in my family is much of a pie-eater but me!!

If you live in Hartford County, make sure to stop by at the best farm, Dzen Farm, located at 215 Barber Hill, in South Windsor. 215 Barber Hill Road South Windsor, CT 06074

This blog is an excellent, and sadly much needed reminder, Tatyana! CT's a little far for me to go for blueberries, so my full attention is on the moral of the story, which I absolutely take to heart!

Enjoy your pie (more for you!)

Tatyana, I am not much into blueberries, but I think that is a great way to spend time with your kids, and that they will remember for a long time.

There is nothing like fresh fruits and veggies this time of years. Best of all, when you pick yourselves, well everything just seems to taste better.

Hey Tatyana, I'd be glad to share some of that Blueberry Pie with you...blueberries are one of my favorites!  I have them most every day in one form or another.  Actually I like to make my own yogurt and add in fresh blueberries.

Love blueberries and those are so pretty... makes me hungry just looking at them.  We love to make strawberry, peach, or apple pies.  I've planted blueberries in the past but can't seem to keep the soil acidic enough to make them happy. :(

@George,

:) To be honest with you, George, all that time I was picking blueberries, my son was passionately standing next to me and asking me from time to time: "Are we done yet?" I hope he will remember it as a good memory when he will grow-up.

thanks for visiting!

@Webster, in winter??? maybe. In my house they will be gone in 24 hours... :)

@Joe, when I was growing up in Russia, my parents had a beautiful summer home in suburban area with huge garden. We were growing strawberries, apples, plums, pears, you name it... It was a lot of work but we really enjoyed harvest in the fall. Now, living in USA, we don't have a garden and I am glad to be able to take my kids to orchards around here. I think this is important that they will know where all of it coming from.

Thank you for stopping by.

@Judi.

Wow, you were even trying to plan blueberries? That is impressive. Sorry, it didn't work out. I have my flower garden (roses, irises, poppies, lilies...) but I know that fruit garden requires much more care. Good luck to you with your garden.

Thanks for visiting.

Tatyana, I don't know why this post reminded me of this, but isn't there a Russian food made with sour cherries & sour cream. Maybe a kind of pierogi. I think the name started with a "V". Vishnia, maybe.
