Which is more important the Realtor® or the Company?

Hiring the right realtor is a very important decision.   If you were in desperate need of a good surgeon, would you just go to a local urgent care facility or perhaps a nurse practitioner?  NO - you would seek out the best dr at the best location.   The same goes for choosing a realtor.  Choose one that has all the skills and has also chosen the right place to hang his/her license.  This is why I have chosen Keller Wiliams Realty - It is in my opinion the best fit for my skills as a rainmaker and top agent in the industry.   Take a look at one of the most powerful websites in the industry:  www.FindAZhomesFast.com

This is a question that I was posed recently by a home seller.  It turned out that particular client is a surgeon, so I posed him this question:  Which is more important the doctor or the hospital?  His answer was:  “Hands down, the doctor.”  My answer correlated:  “Hands down, the Real Estate Agent”.

I probed further as to why he said that the doctor is the most important.  Bear with me while I make the correlations to the real estate industry.

A good surgeon will select the best hospital facility to practice out of.  The strong Realtor® selects a company that supports the agent’s business.  Further the best hospital facilities will attract the physicians and support personnel that are tops in their field.  The same is true in the real estate industry – top agents attract other high performers – creating synergy and strong business practices.

The surgeon knows the critical elements required to be able to provide the best care for the patient.  The real estate agent knows what it takes to get a home sold in the current market.  In the case of purchasing a home, the Realtor® is on the street showing homes and knows intimately what is going on in the market.  The real estate agent is much closer to the action than the company can possibly be.

In terms of education and experience, which do you care more about:  the surgeon or the hospital administrator?  I care about who is actually going to be doing the work.  It is the same I have found in the real estate industry, the Realtor® is the one that actually does the work – that is who the client is going to call on the phone if there is a problem or concern.  Try getting the President of a large company on the phone!

It's definitely more about the agent than the brokerage but being associated with a bad broker will hurt the agent.

Being a Realtor it's like being in the army. Your caption that you take direction from (your broker) sets the tone for the office. I choose to work with Keller Williams Realty because of the company's high standards for there agents. When you go with  KW agents there really is not too many bad "eggs" in the company because they just don't tend to fit in. What I believe is most important, is that you find an agent with a personality that you like. Since they are key to helping you find your next home.
