The Hood River County Fair is Here! July 25 - 28th
We could smell the kettle korn, carnitas and hay before we even went in the gate. Then we heard screams of kids on scary rides, bells ringing as someone wins a game and a rooster crowing somewhere nearby. Colorful banners floated in the wind and lights flashed on the rides and food booths. Yep, the fair is here!
There's something almost magical about a fair in rural small towns. And this year did not disappoint. The Hood River County Fair opened on Wednesday, July 25th and runs through Saturday, July 28th. It seems like everyone in a small town gets involved, volunteering in booths, entering jams and quilts, dozens of local kids show animals, artwork and clothing. The fair is quintessential small town at its best. And this year, the weather is fair perfect... perfect blue skies, a light wind and 85 degrees!
It's not too late if you haven't made it yet. The fair remains open through Saturday night at the Hood River County Fairgrounds in Odell, Oregon. For more information or a complete schedule, visit the fair's website.
