You may think being a Realtor is an easy job. I get asked that all the time at parties, weddings, around town, community events, and meeting with clients. My job has all kinds of fun things happen along the way from when people first call me buy, sell, or rent a home in the Danbury area, until we get to the closing table or the signing of a lease. Some of the things that have come up as of late include the following:
-Key was jammed in lockbox that died and the owner was half way around the world with no spare key.
-Having an alarm system go off at the start of a building inspection since the previous tenant turned off the main power to the unit.
-Having documents send to you that you can’t open
-Needing paperwork from a specific company that does only 1 job, having them on vacation when you need them, and having no viable alternative backup
-A couple of days before signing a lease, doing an inspection prior finding bat guano on deck.
-Getting paperwork from an another agent that was blank in several places, beyond customary timing and having to explain everything to her a few times
-Websites not working, and that’s the only place you can get the paperwork from.
-Banks not willing to talk to you just for a status update
-Having gas turned off to a property so you can’t see how the furnace & hot water heater works without going back a few days after the scheduled building inspection.
-Having a tenant‘accidently lock a door to their apartment which the key was not in the lockbox.
Are we having ‘fun’ yet! Don’t get be wrong, there could be worse jobs out there that I could be doing! I love my job. I’d love to help you with your real estate goals. Call me, let’s talk real estate 203-417-0523.
