Thank You Keller Williams - Waldo Canyon Fire One Month Later
It was one short month ago tonight that we stood safely in our backyard in the 60-65 mile an hour winds and watched the Waldo Canyon fire crest the mountain and head quickly toward the homes in Mountain Shadows. I have never felt so helpless.
Later, I talked with those affected by the fire. They described it as "Armageddon" with the winds carrying heavy smoke and burning ash, the rush to pack their prized possessions in their cars, trapped in heavy traffic with the fire rolling down the foothills in their rear view window. Many found creative ways to escape. One tells the story of driving through a vacant lot, cutting the wire fencing so they could drive past the stopped traffic to an open road. I can't even imagine being in their shoes.
We had 21 families from our office evacuated from the neighborhoods affected by the fire. Fortunately, no one lost their home, but some still are not able to return due to the smoke damage or neighborhood conditions.
Today at the Agent Leadership Council meeting for our office at Keller Williams Clients' Choice, I was speechless when I heard that the office had received over $4,000 in cash and gift cards from other Keller Williams agents from around the country to help our evacuated agents and staff of the Waldo Canyon fire. This was totally unsolicited and unexpected.
Keller Williams has a non-profit fund called KW Cares, that agents and staff can request financial support in the event of an emergency. But receiving money from KW Cares takes time. To receive this cash and gift cards so quickly for our people was incredible and heart felt.
I just wanted to take a few minutes to say Thank You Keller Williams Agents from the agents and staff at Keller Williams Clients' Choice.
I am honored to be a part of this Company that has a heart far beyond their business!
