Carroll County Maryland ~ Public Libraries ~ Community Resources
Carroll County Maryland Public Libraries are one of my favorite community resources. I love to read! The public library is a critical part of the community that goes beyond reading. Did you know that the library’s Community Information Service maintains a directory of organizations based in Carroll County and the region? “Resources include government agencies, recreational opportunities, clubs and organizations, day care centers, and religious services.”
In 1863 the the first Carroll County Library was founded by Reverend J.A. Monroe and Dr, Charles Billingslea. Today, six branches across the county and a bookmobile that reaches out into the community.
The Finksburg Branch, pictured above is the newest of the six, opened its doors opened on January 28, 2009.
Programs & events offered at Carroll County Libraries throughout the year for all ages, from gardening to puppet shows. There is still time this summer to read a great book or attend an event!
