Ontario's National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7, 2012. Ontario's National Night Out is one of the city's largest community events and the pride and joy of Ontario's Neighborhood Watch Program. This event is a celebration of the unity in our neighborhoods, and partnerships with the police department and other city and county agencies.
National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
We invite Ontario residents to participate by hosting a gathering in your neighborhood. Once again this year, a large community block party at the park will be held at De Anza Teen and Community Center.
The block parties can be coordinated with the neighborhood watch groups, or other associations in the neighborhood (such as churches, community centers, business areas). Residents with an existing neighborhood watch group should contact their block captains for planning information. Other city residents and organizations may contact the Ontario Police Crime Prevention Unit at(909) 395-2093 or email Cecelia Huggins for more information. Interested persons may also attend the Ontario Night Kick off Meeting on Wednesday, June 14 at 7:00pm at the Ontario Police Department located at 2500 S. Archibald Ave.
Business owners and groups seeking a unique community outreach project may contact the Crime Prevention Unit to find out if you qualify for sponsorship or advertising opportunities.
