Buyers

If you are looking to get and out of Portland real estate as short term investment, now may not be the time to buy. Real estate as an investment is usually better as long term investment than as s short term holding.

Selection

Buyers Looking to purchase a home for personal use, will find they have more selection now while inventory is up. During previous couple of years, I saw many buyers settling for homes do to lack of inventory. After they  were out bid on 2or 3 different offers, they may have been happy just to finally be the winning bidder. Since selection was was down, with less homes to choose from buyers may have paid top dollar for properties, especially those in good condition in popular metropolitan Portland neighborhoods.

Now might the the perfect time to buy. Area prices are softer now and sellers may willing to do more repairs, help with closing costs or other sellers concessions then they may have previously agreed to when buyers were lining up on the front steps to purchase their homes.

Low interest rates

Home inventory is up, offering buyers more choices no matter what your price range. As of the writing of this posting interest rates were approx. 5.50% to 5.75% depending on buyer qualifications. With low rates and above average selection this may be the perfect time to go house hunting for your next home.

If you are looking to move now maybe the time to find that special home that has previously been elusive.
