Lebanon Mason Monroe RailroadLebanon Mason  & Monroe Railroad August & September Special Events

The Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad keeps chugging along with special events!  They're finishing up a packed summer schedule and hard to believe, but coming up on the fall season soon!  Based on the south end of historic downtown Lebanon, the LM&M is a very popular local attraction and particularly a hit with the kids!

So what are the special activities in August & September?

The Cat in the Hat continues from the last weekend in July with special runs August 11 & 12!  A little learning, a little exploring, who knows what that Cat in the Hat will be up to??  Trains leave at 10, 12:45 and 3:30.

Ride With Clifford, That BIG Red Dog!! August 18, 19, 25 & 26.
A little learning, some games, and Clifford.  Trains leave at 10, 12:45 and 3:30.

Day Out With Thomas!! September 7, 8, 14, 15 & 16.  ONLY the most popular event of the year for the wee ones!  A full size Thomas the Tank Engine on the front is just the start, and more specialty activities too.  This crew knows the drill, as Thomas makes the rounds nationally! Times vary, so click the Day Out With Thomas link to see times and purchase tickets.

Batesville Apple Festival September 23rd.  This isn't the typical short run but a much longer day trip!  Leaves at 9 a.m. and heads down the tracks to Batesville Indiana for the annual Apple Festival.  You'll have a 3 hour layover to enjoy the Batesville Apple Festival. And this one DOESN'T leave from Lebanon, but from Cincinnati.  Click Batesville Apple Festival Train Excursion for more details.  Tickets range from $40 to $99.95 depending on class of service and dining choices.

For the special events besides the Batesville Apple Festival, tickets typically are $18.50 for Adults, Seniors and kids 5-16 are $15.50, Toddlers 2-4 are $8.50, and under 2 are free.  You can purchase tickets online at the Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad website (click the link) or by calling 513-933-8022 x101.

The LM&M Station, Ticket Office and Gift Shop is located at 127 South Mechanic in downtown Lebanon, just a couple of blocks from the Golden Lamb.  On street and municipal lot parking is available within a short distance of the station.

So all aboard for your train adventures!

Bobbie, I got to ride a train fairly regularly growing up.  My mom is from Cass, WV and they have old coal fired engines that take you up the mountainside, so we'd get to ride when we visited the grandparents on vacation.  Still enjoy it nowadays when I get the opportunity.  VERY scenic views!

Charita, Life happens, probably something real estate, Murphy has a sensor when there's something else we want to do!

Louise, We'd bet it's a lot of fun!

Ed, Parents just can't go wrong with these themed train rides :)

John, The LM&M does a pretty solid weekend business.  That Thomas weekend you'll see all kind of families heading for the station.

Kwee, Most weekends during the good weather months they'll have something good going on.

This is a great Localism post - congrats on the feature.  What fun it would be to ride with Clifford, the big red dog!  I haven't thought about him in years.  Nice memories.

Barbara, Thanks!  Unexpected, but we'll take it :)  Clifford is another annual appearance for the local train.  No reason that popularity will wane.

Good evening, Bliz. I still like to ride trains. I guess it is because it is so rare that anyone takes them any more...

Endre, It's definitely nostalgic to ride these older trains and just have a good time!  Not quite the same as using them for commuting.

Michael, It is rare around here, other than this and the occasional Amtrak train out of Cincinnati, it's just not a common mode of transportation.

BLiz- another great local post... much more than just name, time, date and address!  My dad used to take me to the train station in Houston when I was little.  I could stare at those trains for ever.

Sandy, Yes YOU DID!  And this train has a Santa run too at the right time of year :)

Marilyn, Things like this do well.  They're just not easily duplicated.

Richard, They do pretty well here, and with all these special events it's easy to see why.

Kathy, You know us, have to put our own spin on everything :)

Conrad, Hard to believe with all the 90-100 degree temps we've had lately that fall isn't really all that far away!

Ginny, Have always loved history, and this train helps keep some of that connection alive.
