On a recent visit to Yellowstone, as we came into the park from the northeastern entry very early in the morning. I came around a curve traveling at about 40 mph to encounter this guy strolling in the middle of the road. I was able to get stopped about 20 feet in front of him,glad we were not traveling any faster. One big Bison !!
That's a great picture. I haven't been to Yellowstone for over 15 years. We were there about a year after all the fires. The number of bison and extremely large elk roaming around was incredibile. Of course we went in October, and that may have had something to do with it. There were more bison and elk than people.
They are in deed Lenn, but especially so when you are sitting in a Prius "looking up at him from 10 feet away" and hoping he doesn't ram you and knock you off of his road.. Funny now,scary then.

When I look at that picture and realize Bison plentifully roamed the plains a couple of centuries ago, it's hard to believe I have never seen one in the wild. To view it from a Prius must have made you feel a little like a toreador on wheels.
