It's FREE and it Works! QR codes and what they do for Real Estate

Why are you not using these things!???  Agents who use the free QR codes are getting on average of 5-20% more views to their listings, videos, tours and even their website than those that arent. If you don't have the QR app on your phone get it, you'll love it!

I understand Real Estate Agents very well, and know that in this industry, anything that's free and works is awesome! So with that in mind I asked many of our clients why they aren't using them.  It was clear after discussing this that they just didn't understand what QR codes were.

What are QR codes anyway?

A "QR" code (Quick Response Code) is a 2-dimensional code that can be scanned by your phones camera and direct you to a Website, written message, photo, virtual tours , a phone number, and absolutely anything else that you may find on the web. (I've actually had a free lunch once because I scanned a QR code at a restaurant! Pretty cool huh!?)

They began their popularity in Japan, but are now everywhere in the modern world.  You can find them on signs, new cars, clothing, beer, on dietary guides, and even canned Tuna!  A QR code is simply a free marketing/information tool that can be tracked. That's right! It's free and can be tracked to prove its effectiveness.  So now that you know that... Why are you not using them?

For Real Estate, the possibilities are endless, it just depends on how creative you decide to get.

BEWARE ... a "Captain Obvious" moment!!!  When directing buyers to a Virtual Tour or Video with a QR code, "MAKE SURE IT WORKS ON MOBILE.!" (seriously, this problem is rampant)  Many Video platforms won't work on mobile, and the majority of virtual tours are slow and clunky on mobile. (not mine though)  This will just frustrate the buyer and make them hate you. (lol) This is not a good thing.  If you aren't in Colorado, we can refer you to someone with the best mobile technologies in your area.  Otherwise Call HotShotPros.com as we have the fastest loading mobile tour on the market today. (There always has to be a plug somewhere!)

Here are just a couple of examples.

Real Estate Photography and Video Marketing in Colorado with QR codesThe most important place to insert your QR code is in Printed materials like your flyers, postcards, mailers, and even your business card.  If you're doing a virtual tour or a video, the QR code should go direct to the video or tour because that is what the buyer wants to see... not to mention, if your Tour or video company is worth their salt, they'll have your contact information built into your mobile tour or video.  Again though... make sure you're using "Mobile Friendly" technology!  If it's not mobile... it's OLD... throw it out if there's a replacement.

The most obvious way to use a QR code is to put it on your sign.  Many Agents are even having window decals made up on every listing to place in windows of their listing.  This is a great thing for drive-by traffic, and window peepers - and is extremely productive.

What about all of those handouts that you give for gifts?  Pens, Coffee Mugs, Sports Schedules, etc...  The easier it is for them to find you when they're thinking of you, the greater chance of them calling you.  It's really that simple!

QR codes are  becoming more and more popular in the overall marketing department..  Saw an add in the OC Register for jobs and the entire page was noting but QR Codes.

Ron, you know it, they are literally everywhere!  Another common use is on business cards too.  They can be scanned by a phone and added in as contacts.

Hi Pam, tracking the Qr code is as simple as tracking any website or link on the web.  However, many QR code generators have a traffic report feature, but it's not usually as powerful as the one you get from Google's Analytics.

If you're directing the QR code to a Virtual Tour, your Virtual Tour provider should be giving you these statistics via weekly/monthly email.  If you're directing it to a website, make sure that you have Google analytics in your site.

I can't emphasize how important Google Analytics is for your website.  Many hosting companies, or DIY web companies have their own analytics, but they fail miserably compared to Google as the industry standard.

Hi Rocky, Excellent!  Let me know of your results, I'm a numbers geek!
