Al/Peggy...this is a good reminder for your Brampton Ontario residents.  Hopefully many will see your post and avoid a fine if caught breaking the city ordnance.

Thanks Gita. Do you have a celebration August 4th?

Civic holiday also known here in Ontario as Simcoe Day is a public holiday Kathy. We celebrate it on the first Monday of August, think the holiday dates back to the abolition of slavery.

Yes, a fine would ruin a nice long weekend but so would would a fire or an injury!

Al and Peggy,

Safety first. This isn't a good time of year for fireworks. I don't know if you're in a drought situation like a lot of the lower 48.

Good evening, Al & Peggy. Personal fireworks were banned here in this area over the 4th due to extreme drought conditions. But the, like you said, safety first...

Interesting Al and Peggy, I am going to have to check our local bylaws to see on which holidays we are allowed to have fireworks in New Tecumseth

Al and Peggy that is interesting.  I always thought that fireworks were either permitted or not permitted.  I never heard of their being a distinction between holidays.

Al & Peggy, the recent draught has been my main concern...many people here don't use a lot of common sense when it comes to fireworks.

We were Rich but had a few little downpours that solved that. But you are right, it is not the time of year for fireworks!

Thank you Irene, we are deep into summer holiday vacation time, but that will change in about two weeks.

Its a smart ruling Michael. Beside the professional fireworks are better!

You should before you light up Chris, you may find it the same.

Thanks Michelle, we are sure it will be widely enforced, so people should abide by it.

It is interesting George and we really don't know how they were chosen except like many pointed out the summer is just too hot and maybe that is why.

That is the problem Nick, common sense has got to be observed.

Good for you Joni! Now you know a bit more about us Canadians! ;)

Now see Valerie, we learned something new here again. We didn't know the holiday was called something different in Ottawa! No we didn't see you honoured us as a Canadian smartie, will check it out, but thank you!
