I love to show houses and help people find a home that they love. It requires patience and knowledge because buyers have lots of requirements and expect us to find out the answers.
There were couple of buyers whom I could not help.
There was a home over 100 years old and the buyers asked me has anyone died in the house ?
I asked them whether they meant recently or during the 100 years and whether they meant IN the house actually or did they mean that has any one who lived there died even away from the house
The answer surprised me. They meant did any one who used to live in the house die in the last 100 years during their ownership. They were afraid of ghosts.
I said it was difficult for me to track down all previous owners and ask them and the neighbors would also not know about previous owners. I did ask the agent about the current owners and convinced the buyers that it should not matter as no one died during the current ownership.
There was another buyer who wanted to find out if the neighbors had a pet. She said she would be scared if the dog or cat came out of the neighbor's house when she opened her door.
I said even if they do not have a pet now there is no guarantee that they will not get one some day . She should look for a home in a condo community where no pets are allowed, which is difficult to find.
ps. I also told that service animals are allowed .
