"In the Summertime" 1970 London

Raise your hand if you remember this song so popular in 1970!

I have fond memories of the 1970s, mostly of:

- MINI SKIRTS

- BELL BOTTOMS

- 4-inch heels with pointy toes (oh, yeh, they are back) - women

- PLATFORM SHOES, mostly disguised as cowboy boots - men

- DISCO - terrific exercise

- TRAVEL WAS FUN: You could run for an airplane and they'd open the door back up for you--and all WITHOUT going through security

- VWs with cute flower designs

- And everyone seemed to be into GARDENING

Hey, it's a slow summer day, feel free to reminisce. I bet many of you have a whole lot of other stuff you remember from those good old days! And if not, sorry, you really missed out but I'm sure your parents told you about them--or not.

Anyway, with the Olympics in London this summer, I thought this video of MUNGO JERRY performing IN THE SUMMERTIME would bring a little fun into our lives.

PS. Just listening to the lyrics: I obviously do not endorse drinking & driving!!!

Hella, yeah, and those 4" pointy toes shoes gave me bunions!  Cute post, and it brings back lots of great memories.

Awesome old song...that still gets a lot of airtime!  If her daddy's rich...take him out for a beer....

And yes...the 70's were a riot...great music...great parties...great friends...

Hella - The late 60's and early 70's are a haze .... but I do know that I had tons of Armani shirts and Angel Flight suits ... so I must have been there ....  Thanks for the reminder!

Of course we all remember hearing this on the AM radio, I think I was 8 or 9 years old.

Patricia: Yes, but I wouldn't have given up those shoes for anything.

Mike: It's good to sit back and remember occasionally, especially on a lazy summer day like today.

Jack: Yes, those were the '70s! Life generally was not so complicated, now everything is regulated up the ying yang.

Winstin, you kid! Missed it by about 10 years.

Oh, I remember that song! I loved the late 60's and early 70's. Mini skirts, long hair, the Beatles and summers at the beach. Such fun!

Rose: Yes, fond memories. It's still great to go to the beach, although now it's all about sunscreen. We didn't know how much damage that ol' sun could do. But I never regretted spending much on my life on the beach.

Tom: Well, we need to make more memories for the future NOW. That's what I'm working on! This is a great summer.

Joe: Isn't that the truth? Why stay with just ONE memory? And we have to be thankful that now, in this fast paced and much more competitive world, we have the Internet. Or is THAT what made it more fast paced? Definitely "yes".
