Runners, Get Ready for the Alamo City Beer Challenge!
Yes, if you are a marathon or half marathon runner, then, this is the race you want to enter this weekend. This is an 8K and 16K running event to help raise funds for thousands of patients who suffer from blood diseases like leukemia. A bone marrow transplant is the best means for a cure. Donations can be made online for the Battle at Mac Park too.
This second race will be taking place this Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 6:30 P.M. at McAllister Park, and is being themed as, “The Battle of Mac Park 8K/16K”. McAllister Park is located at 13102 Jones Maltsberger, and participants may call 210-207-7275 for more information, or register for this event at Alamo City Beer Challenge.
Food will be provided by Highlander Bar and reps from Alamo Beer and Ranger Creek will be on hand to talk about brewing. Age groups: 20 and under, 21-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60-plus, with awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
Jerry, this sounds like a great run for a great cause. You are a dear, dear person for helping to spread the word. Blessings...
this is indeed an interesting event for a good cause........I never heard of running for beer but whatever it takes to get them out!
A very worthy cause I am sure. 8K and 16K are long races and will warrant a beer later! I am sure you will be there!
Hi Andrea. Would love to have you here for a visit, and my hats off to your Dad for being a Marathon runner. I could never run more than a 10K race myself back in my Army days. I am more of a walker and donator these days.
Yes, Ellie. I is a very nice cause, and a Fun event for those who love to Run and drink Beer.
Thanks, Karen Anne. I just love getting the word out for events that have a very worthy cause. Leukemia is a deadly blood disease, and any donations to help fight and find a cure is well worth the efforts.
Have a Wonderful Day!
Good morning Jerry -
What a great event for a great cause! Great job on spreading the word my friend.
John
Another great localism post, Jerry. I remember touring the Shiner Brewing company during our last visit to San Antonia area.
Good cause to promote, too. My grandfather died of leukemia & skin cancer.
And just to make it more interesting, do you have beer instead of water at the stops?
Thanks for promoting this outstanding community event.
I am a leukemia survivor and appreciate this cause.
Have a most productive August and be sure to have your camera in hand to capture the special moments.
Jerry That iis the kind of function that promotes exercise and supports a worthy cause
Yes, Barbara Jo. They are rewarded the Beer at the finish line. It was New for me too.
Hi Gary, My running days have passed. I wouldn't mind doing a 5K walk. Gave up the Beer years ago too.
Yes, John. This is truly a Great Event, and a Great Cause too. Looks like there will be two more events like this before the year is out.
Hi Mary. Leukemia research needs all the support and help they can get to help cure this blood disease. I love supporting these causes too.
Now, Kevin. That's a very interesting question. I would have to inquire about that one. It would be a A Ha moment for many runners, I am sure.
Hi Roy, Thanks for your Good Wishes for August, and I know you are a Great Supporter, having been a survivor yourself. I need to take more photos and make more videos this month.
Hi Karen, Speaking of exercise. I need to get in shape and work my way back up to walking 5K or more. Have a Wonderful Evening!
I always appreciate your comments on my blogs.
Have a great day and an outstanding weekend with your camera in hand.
