Ohio Alleycat Resource Hosts Annual Bowl-a-thon Saturday August 4 2012
If you follow our blog, you know we've got particular love for an area non-profit, Ohio Alleycat Resource & Spay/Neuter Clinic. These folks absolutely ROCK! 150 cats already adopted out this year and the number is growing fast!
When we were "found" by more cats after reaching our maximum capacity, O.A.R. took the three kittens and adopted them out! We still get updates on Copy Cat via the adopting family's Facebook page :)
O.A.R. is a no-kill shelter, and as you can guess, they're never at a lack of work or a lack of cats to adopt out. They do tremendous work offering low cost spay/neuter jobs, training for trap/neuter/release programs (fixing the problem by "fixing" the kitties). They've got volunteers who take care of the kitties at the shelter, foster care, weekends at Petsmart doing on the spot adoptions and much more.
And you can bet this costs money, and money is always in short supply. And finances didn't get helped when some _________ (unprintable description that would violate FCC rules) stole their AC unit during the peak of a heat wave. There were donations, and some great publicity by the local TV station, but $2500 to replace the AC is a lot of lost cat food and opportunity.
So how can you help? O.A.R. is hosting a bowl-a-thon this Saturday August 4th at Stone Lanes in Norwood (3746 Montgomery Rd) from 7-10 p.m. $20 covers your bowling, shoe rental, etc. There will also be raffles, door prizes and refreshments.
Whether you bowl more gutterballs than strikes doesn't matter, you can help raise funds by getting sponsors and rolling the ball down the alley! Get sponsors for a flat fee, or per pin! Click Thunder Alley Bowl-a-thon to download registration, pledge form and contact information. Emily of O.A.R. is running point on this event, you can reach her at 513.505.4113 or email emily@ohioalleycat.org. With 28 lanes to fill, they've got a spot for you!
UPDATE: Anyone wanting to donate can do so by clicking on the OAR link at the top. If you'd like your donation to be specifically to the bowl-a-thon, please mail to us at P.O. Box 794 Mason OH 45040 with checks made out to Ohio Alleycat Resource. Please provide us a return address to mail your receipt so the IRS will be happy with your deduction claim! We (and the kitties) appreciate your assistance!
