Add Video Comments to Your Active Rain Blog.

Services for Real Estate Pros with RealVisionHomes.com

riffly video commentsI recently came across this  exciting plugin for blogs.

It allows you to enable your visitors to leave video comments or just speak into a microphone and leave an audio comment to your blog posts.

Ok, so How do we integrate this into your Active Rain Blog?

Before I make you read any further, I have to let you know, so as not to disappoint you...

You will need to have another blog running, based on the WordPress Platform.

So yes :( you will need to somehow get that done first at least until someone comes up with a widget or the people at Riffly  themselves release one!

Ok, if you do have a Wordpress blog its then dead easy:

1) Download the Free plugin from Riffly.com

2) Upload it to your WordPress Plugins folder

3) Create a link to the Video Comments from your Active Rain Blog post - For example heres mine:

Leave your Video or Audio Comments to this blog post.

That's all there is to it.

So you can let people comment as normal in active rain, and link to some video and audio comments as above!

Regards,

Clyde

Hi Clydd...

Now let me explain that it's not that your blog is not original.

The problem around here is that there's so many blogs and you're getting lost.

I see you're fairly new in this part of cyberspace. The best way to forward is to get involved by making comments.

Comments have a way of driving traffic to your AR site. Hence my precense here. Your comment on my last post "made me look" :)

As far as this post goes. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Sorry to shout. But "NO ONE" will tell me how to do the video comment.

It appears that some people don't want to share the "How the heck did you do that?" thing :)

P.S. Human tests like "Love-in-a-mist" probably are not helping us much. LOL.

TLW...ROAR!

Clydd - you always have some great stuff that I've just been thinking "Hmm...I wonder if I can get something like this....?"  Thanks for all of the good tips.  Now to get them incorporated...well, I'll get there someday soon!

Hi Kent

Thanks for the thumbs up from you!  Will try to fit in more everyday technology though, as I feel some of the stuff I write about isn't that practical for everyday implementation.

regards!

Hello Tony,

There are a few software out there that let you attach video to email. I haven't actually "embedded" video into an email, But have regularly sent emails with attached video.

The easy way is to get some kind of video recording software- the free kind that comes with your webcam usually, and then record a snippet and save in the Mpeg format. ( this way it will surely play on both MAC and PC systems). The other methods like quick time or avi mostly create bigger file sizes and sometime make users have to download a codec.

If you have Windows XP, the built in free Moviemaker software lets you so a complete, record, edit and email all in one. try it out.

Another better way of doing things is to upload your video to YOU TUBE and then copy the embed code that they give you ( its usually located to the right hand side of your video on youtube)

This has the advantage that you can embed a video in email and not have to worry that the email size is going to be large. (since the video is on youtube, i guess its not all that private then)

Regards,
Clyde
