Several recent buyers and sellers have given glowing reports about two companies that did work either in preparation for putting their properties on the market or for projects on their new places – sometimes both. I encourage clients to interview more than one, and tell them that all I can say is that the contractors have worked for me personally, have been recommended by friends, and have been recommended by other clients.
I give clients the same advice I give when we’re talking about listing commissions, a quotation from John Ruskin. (I was a college lit teacher 30+ years ago.) "...The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better." Balancing price and quality and reliability, with referrals from trusted sources is likely to reduce stress and get better results.
Both of these companies can handle a wide variety of jobs, big and small, and I’m comfortable recommending them both. Both have been prompt, reasonable, courteous, and thorough. If you use one, I’d appreciate knowing about it, or if you have other workmen you recommend highly, I might add them to my list. It’s not easy to find really dependable workmen.
