FINALLY!  Shell has told me about some of the wonderful prizes and I know how hard she has worked on this!!

I just skimmed through the information, and am sorry if I am asking for something that I missed reading....but in regards to vacants, will it be broken down into selling price point?  Also, how many can we submit?

I am getting ready to stage 3 vacants over the next 3 weeks.....hmmm..which to choose from....

This is going to be fun!  Thank you again to all who worked so hard on this and for posting the information for us to read.

Hi Y'all

 Anyone can enter

It's a staging competition so the staging is judged on the "transformation" this way vacants and occupied can both be submitted. So when public voting comes people will look at the WOW factor of each submission so it wont matter if its vacant or occupied.

Selling prices do not matter, the first round is off of the WOW of the job, then the top ten will submit outlines of a staging project of their choice and then judged by the celebrity judges.

You can enter as many photos as you want. the Fees are on the site as well as the Audition page.

Fernando - we are so psyched too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is going to be a lot of fun to see what stagers in general think is their best.

I believe everyone who participates is going to experience the reality of staging that is so desperately needed and recognition from the real estate industry as a whole since they can see the photo's, get involved, and vote!

Check out our message board, the blog updates etc. There is plenty of things on there for you all to participate in. We will also be posting audio recordings very soon and have some surprises along the way! the best is yet to come.

Spread the word on Stager Idol. Send it to whomever you can. One of the great things about this contest is that is heightens awareness on staging! Just like with the industry awards.

Sheron, this is a fabulous, fun and exciting idea you and Shell have worked so hard on.  I can't wait to see how it unfolds.  I got out my guitar and will be entering the singing portion of the contest.  Oh wait, I thought this was the Idol Stager contest.  Sorry. My bad :-)  Well at any rate, I'll be tuned in, you can count on that!

Sheron: Thanks for this post. It explains everything really well. In response to Karen Dembsky's question, and please correct me if I am wrong, you may increase your chances of winning with multiple entries because you will be showcasing more of your work, but you won't increase your chances in the sense that you would if this were a lottery or random drawing.

I'm with Phyllis, there should be a catagory for lived in homes.  I like you, know sometimes the after photos are not as dramatic, but if you had seen the befores you'd really see what can be done with the client's own things. etc.  A good test of staging ability.  Good job Phyllis.  Good post Sheron, missed you at the Roundtable last week.  It was a good one.

Terrylynn - I know what you are talking about but we cannot have 2 stager idols. Just as there are opera singers on American Idol, there are country singers also (Carrie Underwood), vacants may not be everyones favorite. I will see if there can be some clarification for voting purposes and will get back to this subject as soon as I can.

I have one problem with this, as you, Shell and others organizing this already know.

As Michelle says, you can enter as many times as you like however RESA members are at an unfair advantage as I see it. With a lower priced structure for RESA members they can afford to enter more often therefore increasing their odds of winning.

In a contest you have to have a level playing field. I don't see one. I see a handicap being given to RESA members.

Hi Dane - RESA members support RESA through their membership fees and support/input/time.

Non-RESA members do not support RESA, therefore it will cost them a couple of dollars more to enter. This helps offset the costs of putting on such a big and exciting competition.

The fees help pay the cost of promoting Stager Idol.

The time and effort of those organizing, running, and making sure it is a successful endeavor (most as volunteers) are the members of RESA and they work hard for the good of the whole industry. Someone has to contact, setup the rules and schedules of Stager Idol as well as cover the costs of contacting all the entrants, sponsors, judges, etc., all the while providing a web site for Stager Idol, managing it, and so on. There is much that goes on behind the scenes, by many stagers, and for quite a few months.

I hope this helps you and others understand what RESA members do...freely. I also hope you enter because you may end up being the one chosen and win well over $12,000 in cash and prizes.

Dane, it is very common in the world of most everything that has memberships these days to give a member and non-member price for contests and other events.  It is to encourage membership actually and show you the benefits of membership.  But it is meant not to exclude others who may not be members from participating.  So, RESA has not said members only, it's just that members have other obligations and benefits.

I would encourage anyone who is on the sidelines to join.  RESA is working on serious issues that will benefit staging professionals of all training and persuasions that are of huge impact to the perception of staging in the world outside of us, as well as ethics and many other issues that a self governed member run trade association should be involved in on behalf of their members.

AND from viewing your work here I think you have a shot at the "title"...so hoping you'll enter.

Terrylynn:-)

Over 10 people worked very hard on Stager Idol for everyone to enjoy and to give our industry as a whole exposure just like the Industry Awards.  every detail was debated and voted on.

I just did a quick google on contests and these were the first contests I clicked on. EVERY single one has member fee and non-member fees. IN addition the NON member rates are 50% higher on every contest.

RESA's is way lower than that only 25.00 more in each category. While I appreciate your opinions please know that every detail was talked about and voted on by all in addition to researched in order to to be fair and in line with other organizations and common practices. Here are the few for an example.
