Do you have a door that will not stay closed?

We all have one of those door's in our house that will not close because the strike plate does not line up with the lock. I know everyone can relate with me on this. There are a few reasons that why this is happening. The most common being that the door jam and the door frame are not in aliment. Now we need a easy way to fix this problem. The hard way would consist of moving the door trim and shimming the door jam. The problem with doing that is you take a chance of breaking the pine trim and you will have to touch up with paint. This is not easy for the average person.

This is one of the tricks that I have learned from working as a handy man. At home depot you can buy a round file bit that works with a drill for a few dollars. The bit will be small. Take this bit and put in you regular drill and file down the strike plate till the lock matches the hole in the plate. This is a simple solution to fix those annoying doors.
