The temperatures for the season puts this summer (2012) as the 17th hottest in the last 113 years of recordkeeping. Denton, TX 76210 News says the Denton Animal Shelter Foundation is kicking off an event called Adopt-A-Thon this Saturday and Sunday. So, if are looking for a new pet then you need stop by the event. The cost to adopt a dog is $25 and cats are $10. Now that is a great deal. The Texas Coalition for the Protection of Animals clinic will also be on hand to provide reduced price vaccinations for animals, as well as microchip implantation. The event is in the second phase of the competition for grants ranging from $5k to $125k for immediate use in the shelter. Denton Animal Shelter Foundation is one of 50 nonprofit agencies in the challenge. In order to move onto the next phase, 300 animals must be adopted from today through Oct. 31. West Nile Virus: Later tonight, Central Denton, TX will be sprayed for mosquitos beginning at 10 p.m. The spray truck will cover streets connected to University Drive, Locust Street, Oak Street and Avenue C/Malone Street. Denton, TX 76210 News states that city officials have updated the map that shows the results from the mosquitos trapped and found to have West Nile Virus-positive. Click on West Nile Virus to see this map. There have been 6 locations around the city that have now had three or more mosquitos test positive for West Nile Virus.
