A consideration for property owners regarding Marcellus shale:

A recent article in The River Reporter states that Nationwide's National Casualty (Insurance) Company announced that hydraulic fracturing operations are prohibited for properties it insures.

The company has come to the decision that hydraulic fracturing creates great exposures for the company, and have now prohibited this risk taking for General Liability, Commercial Auto, Motor Truck Cargo, Auto Physical Damage and Public Auto (insurance) coverage.  Any current policies with the exposure will not be renewed.

The prohibited risks have been extended to contractors involved in fracking operations, landowners whose land has been leased to lessees with fracking operations, frack sand and frack liquid haulers and site prep (dump trucks, bulldozers or leasing of tanks.

Renee~loved your title for this! I have become aware of fracking just by being on the fringes of it...I think that it's going to affect many of us. I hope that this is good news....? But, once again, the dollar signs have made the decision....hmmmm....
